Director Dev Ops at Namecheap

Namecheap is currently looking for an energetic and enthusiastic leader, to lead the Dev Ops function. You will be working closely with various Namecheap leaders and specialists including CTO, CIO, Development Team, PMO etc at various global offices.


Areas of Discharge
You will be responsible for ensuring smooth and planned execution of all Dev Ops related activities in Namecheap. As a Director, you will also be responsible for guiding and coaching your team and be responsible for their performance.


You will be working with a local DevOps team but also remote Infrastructure teams, so you must be an excellent communicator, comfortable working with different cultures and organised in your time to manage different timezones.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for local DevOps team.
  • Works closely with CIO & CTO to plan and understand the directions of Infra, system support and operations.
  • Grow DevOps team to 24x7 team supporting our Namecheap Application.
  • Manage and maintain our Windows server environment upon which the Namecheap Application resides.
  • Works closely with CIO & CTO to plan and understand the directions of Infrastructure, Engineering and the cross-over / integration between them.
  • Engages with Infrastructure and Engineering to properly plan future capacity, ensuring application space and capacity is aligned with Namecheap growth.
  • Put in place a disaster recovery plan and ensure adherence.
  • Plan and monitor closely for regular Back-ups.
  • Ensure team is monitoring server activities, applications monitoring & tuning.
  • Ensure team has correct logging in place and conducts regular log reviews, evaluating performance, bugs, issues and errors with application.
  • Responsible for ensuring the right security systems are in place including responding to threats and vulnerability preparedness.
  • Keep self abreast with latest technologies and ensure there is frequent upgradation to latest technology in the organization.Ensures repository of code migration environment is maintained
  • Put together solid Database team with a view to high-availability MSSQL database setup that is compatible with Namecheap application.
  • Responsible for ensuring there in no down time for database and the databases in tuned and securely backed up.
  • Effectively propose and manage schedules as well as resources.
  • Ensure the managers are able to track progress, communicate risks and escalate concerns in a timely manner. Build a culture of being process driven.
  • Build team through clear expectations and objectives management, coaching and career development.
  • Ensure the team is utilized and staffed in engagements/activities.
  • Monitor team productivity and project progress to ensure optimal resource utilization and project leadership.
  • Monitor quality of team’s output by process improvements.
  • Align the team towards timely delivery.
  • Manage the team’s training & development plan to ensure a culture of continuous learning and exploration is sustained and directed towards business needs.
  • Mentor Teams Managers and build Leadership pipeline.

Requirements

  • 8 years experience in Windows Administrator; MS Technologies, Virtualization & Cloud computing.
  • Solid understanding of .NET applications in a high traffic environment.
  • MCSE, VCP, RHCE, CCNA or equivalent certifications a plus.
  • Exposure & experience in Dev Ops related methodologies, processes & Tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • High degree of adaptability and ability to handle changes in goals, environment, and priority.
  • Ability to handle crisis and manage. Proactive in planning especially related to Risks.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to collaborate, get buy-ins with various stakeholders.
